Sometimes I wish I was the kind of person who took all of their fabulous vacations during the holidays. After all, that is when you have the most time off from work. But Reese and I usually stay home for the holidays and more and more we find ourselves taking over hosting duties. This year we’ll be hosting what we call “Saturday Thanksgiving” and it’ll be a Slow Cooker Thanksgiving.
Reese and I both come from large families so we split up Thanksgiving by driving to spend time with Reese’s family on Thanksgiving day and then we have my family over to our house for Saturday Thanksgiving. We work pretty well as a team when it comes to hosting parties at our house. I bake, decorate, and plan. Reese executes my plan and cooks.
One of the easiest ways we’ve found to host Thanksgiving is by using lots and lots of slow cookers. We have an entire shelf in our pantry dedicated to slow cookers. I actually had Reese install additional shelving to give us more space. A few years ago I found these awesome Crock-Pot Hook-Ups and I sold all of my old slow cookers at a yard sale to buy a full set.

They come in different sizes and you can also buy warming trays. They connect to each other so you only need a couple of power outlets to run them all. We connect them on our kitchen island and let them do the bulk of the work for Slow Cooker Thanksgiving. Reese still cooks a ham the traditional way and my Sister-in-Law cooks a turkey in her infrared deep fryer. Together, we make quite the Thanksgiving feast!
Not every recipe is suited for cooking in a slow cooker so I’ve rounded up my favorite Slow Cooker Thanksgiving recipes for you to try. These are the tried and true recipes that work for us every year.
